I'm Oliver Gilbert. I own and run businesses in the UK. Sometimes I write to owners of established firms to ask if they'd like a confidential chat about their options.

Where I got your details

From Companies House. It's the public register every UK company is on. I use the company name, the registered address, and the public facts about the company. Nothing secret, nothing bought from list brokers.

Why I'm allowed to write

The law lets a business write a letter like mine where there's a genuine, fair reason. Mine is simple: I buy and back businesses like yours, and a private conversation can be worth a lot to an owner thinking about the future. I've written down the full legal reasoning and I keep it on file.

What I do with your details

I keep them in my own records so I know who I've written to. I don't sell them. I don't pass them to marketing companies.

If you'd rather not hear from me

Say so. Call, write, or email using the details on my letter, in any words you like. I'll stop, and I'll make sure you stay off any future mailing of mine, permanently.

Your rights

You can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think I've got something wrong, though I'd rather you told me first so I can fix it.
